A group of former street children from Khartoum now running businesses in Juba who received education support in Mayo, Khartoum, are now teaming up to return that help to the street kids in South Sudan.
William Akec Aleu and Magai Deng Deng have formed a Friendship Association for Child Protection (FACP) that aims to support street children with food, medication and education fees.FACP Administrative Secretary William Akec Aleu told CRN today that the association is a national charity put together by a group of individuals to face the issues of high number of street children in South Sudan.
He said FACP members want to contribute to social development of South Sudan by providing little assistance to street children living in harsh conditions in Juba markets.
Mr Akec added so far FACP does not have capacity to provide a home to the street children but it only food and medical care.
FACP Coordinator Deng explained that they go to the markets to meet the children.
They take them to restaurants and order whatever food they want to get their trust.
Friendship Association for Child Protection was formed in August 2011 and it is now taking care of 50 street kids.
It has opened it offices in Gudele One, in Juba.
