The residents of Wundurba, Central Equatoria, are not going to cast their ballot in the April general elections because they did not register in due time, an official said.

Jersa Kide Barsaba is the administrative officer and member of Southern Sudan High Elections Committee.

She told journalists that due to the incident related to the shooting of GoSS caretaker minister for Agriculture, Dr. Samson Kwaje, in November, citizens in Wundurba are not going to take part in the April elections because they were not registered.

Ms. Kide stressed that it is unfortunate that the innocent people are victims of the incident.

Dr. Kwaje was earlier shot on his arm on his way back from Wundurba where he went to convince them to register for the elections.

Residents were not registering because the elections commission put constituency 10 that includes Wundurba in Juba County while the locals maintain they belong to Lanya County instead.
