Sudan Air Force has resumed aerial bombardments targeting mainly civilian areas and agricultural sites in Nuba Mountains.

Sudanese warplanes yesterday bombed Heiban killing a young lady in her father’s farm and injuring a soldier who needed an arm amputation.

One witness said the girl laid down to take cover from the shrapnel but she was heat by two bombs that fell next to her.

Air raids continued this morning at half past eight in Heiban, injuring two people and destroying a house and a crop farm.

Heiban SPLM-North chairman Yonan Al Barut said the resumed air raids are a direct policy of ethnic cleansing of civilians in the Nuba Mountains.

He said the National Congress Party is targeting civilians by destroying crops to deprive them of food.

Mr Al Barut encouraged the people to continue building protection shelters against air attacks.

Last week, reports from Nuba Mountains, spoke of a lull in airstrikes.
