People living with HIV in Yei County are facing job discrimination, says a Friendship Club member, an association of people living with HIV and AIDS.

Talking to SCR news, Santino Jackie acknowledged that people living with the virus have been scrapped off the civil service pay roll sheet.

Mr. Santino added that it is a common practice among governmental bodies to discriminate against HIV positive workers.

The discrimination comes after people living with HIV have declared their statuses publicly.

He noted that if the discrimination continues, government officials shall be forced to declare their statuses as well.

Mr. Santino explained that the county lacks a viral load machine and people living with HIV are always referred to Gulu TASO hospital in Uganda.

He mentioned that the referral to Gulu is very expensive and tiresome.

Mr. Santino noted that a viral load machine was brought to the SPLA military hospital in Juba although people living with HIV have not been officially informed so that they can go there for check up.
