SPLM-North chairman of Heiban County of Nuba Mountains says he supports the decision to recruit civilians in the territory controlled by the rebels to fight against Khartoum troops.
Yonan Al Barut said civil recruitment into the SPLA-North’s ranks is done in a volunteer basis.He said everyone should be present themselves even office workers because it is for the good of all.
He added that the Government of the National Congress Party imposes compulsory recruitment of civilians, a move that the SPLM-North does not accept.
Mr Al Barut said no leader wants to do anything bad for his own people.
He explained that the decision to recruit the youths is a good move because the Government knows that it needs the support of civilians.
Mr Al Barut said people should understand their leaders’ demands and intentions because the recruitment of civilians is for the service of the nation.
He added that the SPLA-North does not have money to pay to civilians.
