Juba University Students Union has called on the President of the Republic to act against the 75 corrupt officials and make sure they return stolen funds to the treasury.

The head of the Students Union Ajang Ajang Lino told the press this morning that his association wants to add its voice to the call made by the civil society to persecute the 75 corrupt officials.

He said President Salva Kiir Mayardit should have set a deadline for the return of stolen money.

Mr Ajang added that during the independence of the South Sudan the President made the same call that a secret account would be open for those who looted Government money to return it back but till now there was no response.

He said the citizens of South Sudan want the President to mean what he says and take concrete action to recover stolen money.

Mr Ajang said the country should not continue to suffer at the hands of few individuals.

He added that prices in the market continue to rise, the economy is almost collapsing and donor countries and development partners are no more willing to assist South Sudan because the Government is not serious about corruption.

Mr Ajang said the image of South Sudan is tarnished by broad daylight corruption without accountability.

He said the Union is calling upon President Kiir to act with immediate urgency to redeem the economy from collapsing.

Mr Ajang said South Sudan is part of the global village and the authorities must act in a responsible way.
