The Catholic Bishop of Torit has likened cattle rustling in the country to corruption saying the both vices should be stooped.

Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek was commenting on the letter of President of Republic Salva Kiir Mayardit to over 75 current and former officials to return to a secret account four billion stolen US dollars, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He said stolen cattle should be returned as well.

Bishop Akio said cattle raiders do not stop their practices because of widespread corruption in Government and both crimes are similar.

He said raiders said the footmarks of stolen animal can be traced but those who raid dollars in Government offices cannot be easily found.

Bishop Akio wondered how individuals could get millions of dollars in four or five years while Americans who worked for many years have never had such millions.

President Kiir wrote in May to corrupted officials that the people of South Sudan and the international community are alarmed by the level of corruption in the country.

Most of the stolen money was deposited in foreign accounts and while some bought properties paying in cash.
