The acting director for Wau branch of South Sudan Radio and Television said shortage of money has greatly affected the two means of communication as they cannot meet the rising prices of fuel.

SSRTV Wau acting director Louis Pasquale Aleu stated that the Government has reduced the budget from 15,000 to 7,500 Pounds, Voice of Love reported.

He added the budget is too little to meet running costs since the two generators consume too much fuel.

Mr Pasquale explained that the fuel that was stocked will only enable them to run the radio and TV stations for only three days.

He mentioned that Wau South Sudan Radio and TV are under the administration of the national Government in Juba.

Mr Pasquale said the 5,000 pounds allocated for services were chopped off in 2011.

He explained that the budget cuts affected mostly supporting staff and contributors.

Mr Pasquale said his office has written several reports to the Directorate in Juba and in the state explaining the challenges both Wau Radio and TV are facing.

He added that he hopes for better results.

Wau Radio and TV were off for one month but resumed transmissions for the last two days.
