Some members of Western Equatoria state parliament have mobilized themselves for military training to join the national army.

Acting governor Charles Kisanga and speaker Bukulu Edward accompanied 24 volunteers to the military barrack of the Second Division in Yambio to present them to the authorities and officially open their training.

The group included 12 MPs and 12 SPLM members.

State SPLM Secretary Manase Doboi, who led the group, told the press that they took the initiative to be trained to defend the territory of their nation, and show the example to the rest of the citizens to join the army.

He added that there were many youths already registering in the various counties.

MP Margaret Fozia, representing the women, said they wanted to mobilize themselves and mobilize all the people to defend the nation.

She added that a leader must lead by example; that is why they took the initiative to encourage the youth and women to do the same.

Brigadier general Makol Ajang called his soldiers to parade and warmly welcomed the team to join the training as the first group in the state.
