Reporters from various media houses in Lakes State started today a training that aims at equipping them with the necessary skills to cover the upcoming elections.
The training started this morning with participants from Radio Rumbek, Good News Radio, Radio Nhom Lau in Malualkon and other reporters from Bentiu.The four-day training is sponsored by Norwegian People’s Aid, FOJO and the International Media Support.
Manyang Mayom, a journalist with the Sudan Tribune website, is coordinating the training.
He told Radio Good News that the workshop will cover the challenges fjournalists face during elections, the role of media in democracy, the role of the media in elections, news reporting, legal and ethical considerations in election reporting, the role of religions in elections and the code of conduct for journalists among other subjects.
Mr. Manyang added that the participants will receive a diploma at the end the workshop.
