The Government of Eastern Equatoria has reiterated its commitments to work together with UN peacekeepers to promote and keep peace in the state.

The State Acting Governor Gama Surur Tuesday acknowledged and appreciated the presence and contributions of UN peacekeepers toward the peace promotion in the whole Nation.

He said UN has strongly stood with South Sudanese since 1989 when they established Operation Life Line Sudan that contributed to keep people alive during the war.

Mr Surur called upon the UN peacekeepers in the state to always interact with the community in order to build a tight relationship.

He said the peacekeepers should not fear but work together with the community towards building and promoting peace in the new nation.

East Equatoria UNMISS coordinator Winy Babihuga appreciated the State Government for the support it offered to UNMISS.

She said UNMISS’ success was made possible by the state government’s immense support.

Ms Babihuga appealed to the Government to always ensure a peaceful environment in the state and the UN to fill the gaps.
