ARCHBISHOP OF JUBA VISITS MILITARY HOSPITAL

The Catholic Archbishop of Juba headed a group in a visit to the military hospital to console wounded soldiers under treatment and pray with them.

The archdiocesan delegation included Church personnel and a choir.

Archbishop Lukudu told Bakhita Radio that the visitors wanted to pray with the wounded soldiers and bless them.

He added that the visiting team wanted to assure the wounded soldiers that they stand with them.

Archbishop Lukudu explained that the soldiers are in the hospital due to a good cause.

He added that the visit wants to encourage the soldiers and ask the Lord to reward their sacrifices with peace for South Sudan.

Archbishop Lukudu called on the commanders to be courageous as the Catholic community continues to pray for them.

Arkanjelo Ayiga, who runs the Military Hospital, said the Church had always played an influential role with the SPLA and with the people of South Sudan.

He added that the Christians have the collective responsibility to pray for the sick so that they get courage.

Dr Ayiga thanked the symbolic contribution made by the archdiocese for the wounded soldiers.

He said they are trying to give the best treatment to the wounded soldiers.

Dr Ayiga asked South Sudanese to continue praying for the wounded soldiers so that they recover quickly.

He said the soldiers are willing to go back to the frontline to defend the border.
