National justice minister has warned the Presbyterian pastors in Greater Akobo of Jonglei state to stop political inclinations.

John Luk Jok pointed out that the participation of pastors in the political parties is the root cause of all the divisions and conflicts among the communities in Greater Akobo, NASS reported.

He said pastors lost respect because of political activities, leading to their downfall and the emergence of new churches within Greater Akobo.

Justice Luk, who was speaking on Thursday at Greater Akobo peace and reconciliation conference, urged the pastors to unite and leave hatred so as to create peace among the communities.

Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk of Jonglei accused pastors of leaving the devil control Greater Akobo.

He remarked that Greater Akobo is among the areas that have the highest number of pastors in the Republic of South Sudan, and the highest rate of conflict reported.

Mr Manyang appealed to the pastors to preach the word of peace within Greater Akobo to erase the evil and sustain peace among the people.

The governor called on the Church leaders, especially pastors in Greater Akobo, to convince the communities to collaborate in the current disarmament process.
