The special presidential advisor has called on the people of South Sudan to work for self-reliance in order to sustain their lives.

Joseph Lagu Yanga told CRN today that independence means self-reliance.

He said South Sudanese are not to look for support elsewhere, but work hard to sustain the young nation.

Mr Lagu said South Sudanese must not rely on others but depend on themselves to produce the food the country needs.

The special advisor called on the people to equip themselves with skills in order to be powerful and self-reliance.

Mr Lagu said the universities are sources of knowledge and technology that can empower people to be self-reliant.

South Sudan became independent almost one year ago but still depends heavily on food coming from the neighbouring countries.
