VISIT TO THE VATICAN SIGN OF LOVE AND OBEDIENCE TO POPE, SAYS BISHOP

The visit Sudanese bishops and heads of diocese are concluding today to the Holy See is a sign of love and obedience to the Holy Father, a bishop said.

Auxiliary bishop Daniel Adwok of Khartoum wrote in a statement to SCR News that bishops of one nation or Conference visit the Holy See every five years to express their love, union and obedience to the Holy Father who is informed about the local Church the bishops come from.

Bishop Adwok said the official visit of 13 bishops and heads of diocese of the Sudan started with the celebration of the Eucharist at St. Peter’s Basilica.

On March 8, the Bishops paid a visit to the Pontifical Council for Migrants to talk about the situation of the migrants, refugees and the internally displaced people and to inform the Holy See as to what the local Church does in this field.

They also visited the Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and the Congregation for the Catholic Education.

On Tuesday March 9, it was the turn to visit COR UNUM, the Dicastery that supervises the charitable activities of the Holy Father and CARITAS INTERNATIONALIS, the International Confederation of the Catholic Charity Organizations.

The visit to the Congregation for the Cause of the Saints considered some names of people presented for their cause to be studied for sainthood.

On the same day the Bishops in groups visited the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, Pontifical Council for the Family, Justice and Peace.

On Wednesday, March 10, the Sudanese delegation visited Propaganda Fide, the Department which is mostly concerned with the affairs of the Church in the Mission territories.

This was followed by Diocesan private audiences of every bishop and head of diocese with the Holy Father that started on Thursday.

The visit concludes today with a general Audience with Pope Benedict who will address the Sudanese delegation.

The last time the Bishops of Sudan were in Rome for the same visit was in December 2003.
