The Governor of Western Bahr El Ghazal State on Wednesday ordered the reconstitution of the state`s Legislative Assembly.

Rizik Zakaria Hassan installed 48 Members of Parliament and appointed one member to represent the disabled people in the State Legislative Assembly.

The members have a mandate to help the Governor to administer the state.

The appointees include 13 women taken from the women’s lists.

The newly constituted MPs were elected in 2010 from different constituencies, political parties and women’s lists in the state.

The reappointment of the 48 MPs and one new member came as a result of the article 55 of the state’s Transitional Constitution.

The Transitional Constitution of the State signed on March 14, 2012 empowers the Governor to appoint one member to represent the disabled in the Assembly.

Mathew Chan Majok is the newly appointed MP representing the disabled people.

This act is considered one of the steps of the state government towards a new cabinet to be tabled in the Assembly for approval in the coming days.
