Lakes State Deputy Governor on Monday called on employees to resolve work related disputes with their employers through the state’s Employees Justice Chamber.

Mabor Achol Kuer was speaking after laying a foundation stone for the construction of the Employees Justice Chamber’s offices in Rumbek, Good News Radio reported.

He said the Employees Justice Chamber is one of the important organs in the state because it works to defend the rights of employers and employees.

Mr Achol urged employers and employees to use the chamber to peacefully resolve their disputes instead of resorting to violence.

The Deputy Governor promised that the state government will continue to encourage and offer all the necessary support the Chamber would need to address tensions that may arise between employees and their employers.

The Employees Justice Chamber Director Joseph Akot Mabor said that the land on which the Chamber’s offices are to be built is going to be fenced, as the Chamber continues to fundraise for the construction of permanent offices.

He said the Employees Justice Chamber is among the poorly funded institutions in the state, but promised to make use of the available limited resources to ensure that the Chamber gets a structure for its offices.

Mr Mabor said he is aware of the country’s economic situation, noting that most developmental projects have been shelved due to the austerity measures and the shutdown of oil production.
