The newly appointed Yei River County Commissioner has appealed to the Government to distribute hoes, pangas, fork hoes and other tools to grow crops in the county prison’s fields.

David Juma Augustine also called on the ministry of Agriculture to visit such projects in the county.

Mr Juma said people are ready to develop South Sudan, feed themselves and supply the local markets.

He added that South Sudan could not continue depending for food on foreign countries.

The head of Central Equatoria Chamber of Commerce Charles Data Bullen offered two tractors to the commissioner for ploughing public fields.

Mr Juma made these statements while ploughing a garden for prisoners along the Yei-Maridi road.
