Eastern Equatoria elected officials for the Red Cross State Branch during its annual assembly in Torit Wednesday.
Robert Young Marcello was voted chairperson among 13 candidates to the position, Radio Emmanuel reported.Five people were also elected to the South Sudan Red Cross State Board Committee with Taban Emmanuel wining the chairmanship with 90 percent of the votes.
South Sudan Red Cross Coordinator for Emergency Preparedness and Response, Taban Saburi declared the elections free and fair.
He said the election of South Sudan Red Cross officials started in Yambio, Western Equatoria state.
Similar exercises followed in Central Equatoria and now in Eastern Equatoria.
