A group of Comboni Missionary Sisters working in South Sudan gathered in Juba to reflect on the Plan of St Daniel Comboni for the evangelization of Africa and apply it to today’s reality.
Fernanda Cristinelli and Soledad Saenz, from the Comboni Missionary Sisters General Secretariat in Rome, facilitated the seven-day process of reflection of over 40 sisters in two turns.St Comboni wrote the Plan for the Regeneration of Africa almost 150 years ago to save Africa by Africans.
Sr Fernanda explained that the purpose of the meeting was to involve all the Comboni Sisters to bring St Comboni’s Plan to their reality and time.
She said the Comboni Sisters working in education, health, women empowerment and pastoral activities should promote reconciliation to heal the wounds of war and help in the building the new country.
The Comboni Sisters came to the Sudan almost 140 years ago to promote the values of the Gospel and the dignity of all Sudanese, also by engaging actively against slave trade.
