Lakes State Legislative Assembly on April 27 endorsed a law to make it legal for the state to mobilize financial resources to support the national army, the SPLA in the border.
The law requests all constitutional post holders in Lakes State to contribute with 10 percent of their gross salary and civil servants from grade1 to 14 contribute with a day pay from their gross monthly salary. The law is valid for three months.

The state Labour and Public Service Ministry will work in collaboration with the Finance Ministry to ensure that the workforce is sensitized about this national duty.

People working with the private sector and in both local and international NGOs are also expected to make a one day contribution from their gross monthly salaries through South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.
