South Sudan Human Rights Commission has condemned Sudan Air Force’s atrocities by bombing innocent civilians of South Sudan.

Sudanese forces continue to bomb areas within South Sudan using war planes and artillery and intimidating Southerners in Sudan after the SPLA withdrew from Panthou-Higlig last week, Bakhita Radio reported.

Deputy Chairperson Biel Jock Thich told the press this morning that the Human Rights Commission is deeply concerned over indiscriminate aerial bombardments of civil targets in Unity and Upper Nile by the Sudanese air force.

He added that Southerners in Sudan are subjected to serious mistreatment: houses of Southerners in Sennar state were burned to ashes and South Sudanese inmates were tortured in some Sudanese prisons.

Mr Jock said the Human Rights Commission denounced airstrikes against civilians along the border areas because they violated international law.

He called on the international community to engage the two Sudans to halt hostilities and return to the negotiations in order to achieve peace and stability.

There has been a huge international outcry on Sudan to cease air attacks inside the territories of South Sudan after the SPLA withdrew from Panthou-Higlig.
