The Government of Eastern Equatoria is targeting to mobilize over 12,000 youths to join army and defend the country against Sudan’s aggression.

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore told the press after launching the mobilization exercise at a public rally in Torit’s Freedom Square on Monday that 6,000 are expected to be mobilized from the Greater Kapoeta while another 6,000 should come from Greater Torit.

Mr Lobong said former SPLA and Southerners who served in the Sudan Armed Forces should have the priority because they went already through some military training.

He threatened during the public rally that South Sudan’s army would enter Khartoum if the Sudanese Government continues confronting the new nation.

Eastern Equatoria formed a committee to mobilize other resources to support the forces in the frontline and urges citizens to contribute money, food, clothes and other goods.

Eastern Equatoria Council of Ministers resolved that civil servants should donate one day’s salary to support the army.
