The top female student in the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education 2011 examinations has called on the Government of South Sudan to construct more boarding schools for girls to aid their education.

Victoria Aledy Akec told Good News Radio that in South Sudan girls have few chances of finding enough time to concentrate on school work while at home.

She attributed her excellent performance to availability of learning materials, electricity, and the support she received from trained teachers at the Loreto Girls Boarding Secondary School.

Elizabeth Nyibol Malou, a senior three student at the Rumbek Girls Secondary School, said that Ms Aledy’s success is a living example to parents who do not believe in girl child education.

She added that Ms Aledy showed that girls are capable of excelling in life.

Ms Nyibol observed that hard work plus determination minus laziness was the way to success at school.

Ms Aledi scored A minus with a mean score of 10.83 and took the second place nationally after Kon Emmanuel Chol of St. Bakhita Secondary School who also scored A minus with a mean score of 11.
