Hundreds of people turned up for a peaceful protest in support of SPLA forces over capture and occupation of Panthou-Higlig in Chukudum, Budi County of Eastern Equatoria.

Budi County Commissioner Maurice Merisiya Kauda said that over 500 youths showed their supported to defend what he called truly South Sudanese land, Radio Emmanuel reported.

He accused the international community of being “biased” for demanding that South Sudan withdrew its forces from Panthou-Higlig while ignoring that Khartoum occupied Abyei last year.

Students, pupils, civil servants, the army and other organized forces turned up for the demonstration in Chukudum: the procession started at the local market and ended at the County Headquarters Offices.

The protestors wrote a four-page petition to the President of Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit.
