A crowd of youths today gathered at John Garang’s Tomb in Juba to support the army in the contested area of oil-rich Higlig.

Youth representative James Makur told the rally that the youth of Juba gathered to say thanks to the SPLA forces for protecting the territory of South Sudan.

He said they wanted to tell the international community and Sudan that the youth of South Sudan stands with President Salva Kiir Mayardit in his decision to keep South Sudanese forces in Higlig.

National minister for environment Alfred Ladu Gore called on all South Sudanese to stand with President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Mr Ladu said he was ready to put on his uniform and stand with the President.

Mr Makur called on international community and the UN to demarcate the border between South Sudan and Sudan before the SPLA forces withdraw.

The rally started at Juba Football Stadium and concluded at John Garang’s Mausoleum.
