Some local churches are fostering the spread of AIDS in Western Equatoria by asking HIV positive patients to stop treatment and come for a cure in their places of worship.
Selim Angelo, a Lab Technician at Yambio State Hospital, told Anisa FM that some local churches are deceiving people promising them healing without medicines.He said they have 64 files whose owners are nowhere even to be seen among those taking antiretroviral drugs.
Christopher James Ezekiel, a data clerk working in Yambio State Hospital, said the general statistics of people registered HIV positive from 2010 up to now is 1,553.
He said many people are reluctant to turn up for treatment.
Mr Christopher advised everybody to go for testing to know their HIV status.
He urged those who are HIV positive to take their drugs regularly because that was the only sustainable way for them.
HIV AIDS is still spreading fast in Western Equatoria, one of states with the highest percentage of people living with the virus in South Sudan.
