Torit came to stand still Monday morning as thousands of residents took to the streets to show their support to the South Sudan army and protest against continued bombardments of South Sudan territories by Sudanese forces.

Schools, offices and shops closed down and the food market remained empty as children, civil servants and residents matched in a peaceful demonstration to show their solidarity with the SPLA forces in the battle fields, Radio Emmanuel reported.

The crowd carried placards with varied inscriptions and chanted slogans blasting the president of the Republic of Sudan for his aggressive behaviour and the United Nations for failing to take action as bombs hit villages in South Sudan.

Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore threatened to mobilize people to march from Torit to Unity State on foot if the provocation continues.

He said South Sudan will not allow Khartoum to reach Juba.

The governor also threatened that South Sudan will overrun Khartoum in case Omar Al Bashir tempers with the nation he failed to defeat in two decades war.

Eastern Equatoria youth pledge their support to the decision of President of the Republic not to withdraw SPLA forces from Panthou, otherwise known as Higlig, in a petition to Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The youth also thanked the SPLA forces, urging them to continue defending the territory of South Sudan.

They requested the United Nations to stop Khartoum attacking South Sudan.
