Residents at Eastern Equatoria state can access postal services again following yesterday’s re-opening of Torit Post Office.
Torit Post Office is one among several postal offices that closed down during the civil war in South Sudan and the first one to be reopened.
Re-introduction of postal services in South Sudan appears new and unique to the young generation born during and after the civil war.
Undersecretary in GoSS ministry of Telecommunications and Postal Service, Juma Stephen, was the guest of honor during the inauguration.
Eng. Juma said the Post Office provides many services: delivery of letters and parcels and money transfers.
He explained that post offices can also be used like banks to deposit savings and transfer money.
