JAPANESE FIRM COMPLETES KENYA PIPELINE STUDY

A Japanese company is expected to make a financial proposal on the construction of a pipeline to transport South Sudan’s oil to a Kenyan port after it completed feasibility studies.

South Sudan chief negotiator Pagan Amum said Toyota Tsusho was expected to begin putting together a financial package for the pipeline, Reuters reported.

The cost is yet to be made public.

Mr Amum added that Toyota Tsusho completed feasibility studies for the building of the pipeline to from South Sudan to Lamu.

The Japanese company is now putting together a financial proposal to begin construction of the pipeline.

South Sudan is also considering to build a second pipeline through Ethiopia and Djibouti and to use trucks to move the crude to Mombasa.
