Norwegian foreign minister said his country is concerned by new reports of serious military clashes in the border areas between South Sudan and Sudan.
Jonas Gahr St√Ǭøre added in a press statement that it was vital that the two states respect each other’s sovereignty.He urged both armies to pull back their troops to where they were positioned before the recent escalation.
Mr St¿re urged South Sudan and Sudan to remove the obstacles that prevent the Joint Border Verification and Monitoring Mission to become operational.
He said it was essential that the postponed presidential summit between Salva Kiir Mayardit and Omar Al Bashir takes place as soon as possible.
