The Al Sabah Children Hospital in Juba is currently being run without full attendance of the medical doctors.

Felix Nyungura, a doctor at the hospital, told CRN that medics did not report for the morning duty.

He said when he returned from the Easter holiday the outpatient department was full of children waiting for doctors to attend to them.

Dr Nyungura added that some doctors seem to be interested only in money and they are planning a strike.

CRN visited the hospital this morning and confirmed from the outpatient nurse Lillian Emmanuel that most of the doctors just come for only one hour and go away leaving most of the work the clinical officers.

She said doctors are supposed to work in the inpatient department in the morning and then in the outpatient in the afternoon.

Betty Achen, who runs the malnutrition department, said one child died this morning bringing to three the dead toll at the hospital since the weekend.

She said a committee representing all departments of the hospital this morning went to the health ministry to present a petition but they were thrown out.

During the Easter festival there was no doctor on duty at the Children’s hospital.
