Women for Women International Country Director said the rights of women in Sudan are yet to be respected and many women and girls still suffer from different kinds of abuses.

Karak Mayik made this statement at Barnam Bridge, some 40 kilometres East of Rumbek, where hundreds of women gathered Monday to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Ms. Karak appealed to men to work hand in hand with women to ensure a better future for the families in Sudan.

The charismatic women leader challenged men to practice the virtue of forgiveness, taking their wives as part of their own body, implying mutual respect.

Barnam Bridge is a historical place for Southern Sudan since it was the centre of SPLA activities during the time of war.
