The national ministry of higher education, science and technology sent a delegation to Yambio to inspect a private university operating in Western Equatoria.

Alfred Sebit Lokuji, who headed the team, told the press that the mission was to look at the private universities operating in Greater Equatoria to ensure that they have the facilities, the necessary infrastructure and qualified staff in order to operate, Radio Anisa reported.

He added that the mission will also verify the licenses to operate as universities, and to ensure students are well served and getting their money’s worth from those private institutions.

The team visited the Mikese Institute, the only private higher education institution in Yambio.

After a meeting with the administration of the Institute, the team went to see the land allocated for its new building.

Mikese Students welcomed the visitors with a solemn rendition of the National Anthem of South Sudan.

The inspecting team is formed by Christopher Kenyi from the World Bank-Juba, and Doctor Alfred Sebit Lokuji, dean of the College of Community Studies and Rural Development and Professor Joshua Achol from the Department of Geography at the University of Juba.
