The Catholic Bishops of South Sudan have presented today to the public a book with the records from the Symposium on the Role of the Church in the Independence of South Sudan.
The book titled “One Church from every tribe, tongue and nation” contains all the inputs by international historians, Church leaders, lay people and a government representative at the Symposium.
More than 700 church leaders and people from South Sudan and Sudan attended the symposium that took place in Juba on October 13 to 16, 2011.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe, who headed the Symposium taskforce, presented the book to the media saying the volume it is one of the fruits of that historic event that saw the history, the presence and the future of the Church in both Sudans.
Bishop Lodu explained that the book is not just the record of the Symposium but a source of pastoral and spiritual nourishment very important for everyone.
The book “One Church from every tribe, tongue and people” is published by the Paulines Publications Africa and can be bought at their bookshop for 15 South Sudanese pounds.
Every diocese received 60 copies to be distributed freely among Catholic movements.
The bishops of South Sudan concluded today a two-day meeting.
