Women used the International Women’s’ Day celebrations in Juba today to call for active participation in the elections among their fellow women.
South Sudan joined the world in celebrating women’s day under the theme “building peace through gender equity and equal rights for all.”Executive director of Voice for Change, Rona James Elia, told SCR News that women should support one another regardless of their political affiliations.
Mary Yapete Beatrice, Gender focal point in the GoSS Ministry of Forestry and Animal Resources, said it is important for women to show their participation in politics and decision making.
Fidensia Charles Ladu, acting director for the Central Equatoria State Minister of Gender, said women all over the world have actively involved in politics.
She urged women in south Sudan to try and get rid of cultures that restrict them from participating in the elections by turning up in bigger numbers in voting days.
