The Catholic Bishop of Torit has appointed and installed a parish priest for Our Lady of Consulata parish in Lafon-Lopa County of Eastern Equatoria.

The parish remained without a pastor during seven years, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek appreciated the Christians of Lafon-Lopa for maintaining all the properties of the Church in good shape unlike other parishes where iron sheets disappeared from church buildings.

He urged the community to ask for forgiveness, reconcile and unite with one another during this period of lent so as to know God.

The newly installed parish priest Kamilo Ofore urged the community to work together in a spirit of cooperation.

MP Charles Odwar appreciated the Church and the Norwegian People Aid for the good support they have been providing to the people of Lafon-Lopa for several years.

He called for education as the first priority in the area.

Mr Odwar said parents need to be sensitized to send their children to school.
