The national ministry of commerce announced a three-day investment conference that should draw some 350 foreign investors.

Undersecretary for investment Simon Nyang Anei told the press yesterday in Juba that the ministry will host the first investment summit in Juba from March 20 to 22.

He said South Sudan is open for business and it is moving toward integration into the East African economic community where capital, goods and services will move freely.

He added that the conference will showcase the many potential investment opportunities that independent South Sudan offers.

Mr Nyang said the investment conference will present some key government investment priorities alongside other investment opportunities in South Sudan.

He said the conference will promote South Sudan as a viable investment and business destination.

Mr Nyang said the government will encourage investments in the key sectors of commercial agriculture, renewable energies, industry and information and communication technologies.

The conference will be opened by President Salva Kiir Mayardit with representatives from the ten states of South Sudan.
