Youths from different parts of South Sudan and Nuba Mountains are receiving training on trauma management at the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek.

Healing of the Healers Program Director Justin Atit Irneus told Good News Radio that his organization is offering the participants trauma healing and counselling skills to train others back home.

He revealed that many people have been affected by the war, and it contributed to violence in the families, abuse of alcohol, violent behaviours and other forms of conflicts in society.

Fr Justine expressed disappointment on the low turn out of participants, saying that the nine Dioceses of South Sudan and Sudan were invited to send people and only Wau, El Obeid-Nuba Mountains and Rumbek were present.

Other participates were drawn from the NGO’s, secondary schools around Rumbek and government officials.

A trainee from Nuba Mountains, Avejege Ismail Makki, appreciated the training.

He said what he was learning was relevant especially for his people who are at war since June last year.

The one-month training which kicked off early this week is being attended by 21 participants.
