Expectant mothers visiting Rumbek State Hospital this week are receiving daily lessons in human and women rights to mark the global women’s day that was celebrate yesterday.
The daily morning program, organized by UNFPA, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities, and UNMISS, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, started on Monday and concludes today.Rumbek-based UNMISS Human Rights Officer Patrizia Agangi told Good News Radio that the daily sessions with expectant mothers are an awareness-raising activity covering human rights with a special focus on the rights of women.
She said the human rights daily session offers relevant information to the expectant mothers.
One beneficiary of Wednesday’s session, Adut Muorwel, expressed appreciation for the human rights awareness campaign.
She said the session she attended gave guidance on how deal with lack of care during pregnancy and domestic violence.
Mama Adut added that what she learned was in opposition with the culture of submission she has grown up in.
