The people of South Sudan have to learn how to appreciate and respect the dignity of one another and their diversity in order to build a united nation.

This is the view MP Janet Aya Alex from Morobo County shared with SCR at the end of today’s lectures for the National Legislature on The Challenge of Human Dignity, Justice and the Common Good in the Republic of South Sudan.

Ms Aya said that every person is created in the image of God and should be respected in her dignity.

She added that most issues arise because people do not recognize each other’s dignity.

Ms Aya said God created many tribes in South Sudan and people should make use of this diversity for the benefit of national unity.

She added that South Sudan will be a very beautiful country if it takes the good aspects of every culture and uses them to build unity.

Ms Aya reminded that late Dr John Garang asked people to put the country first and the tribe after.

She praised President Salva Kiir Mayardit for trying to integrate all the tribes of South Sudan under one roof.

Ms Aya asked officials not to be corned by tribalism but recruit people on merit.
