Farmers in Nuba Mountains should begin preparing land in advance to increase food production.
Secretary for agriculture Jamil Makki said early land preparation contributes to good crop production.He encouraged farmers to start cleaning their gardens to be ready for cultivation when the rain comes.
Mr Makki added that the ministry of agriculture plans to establish farming projects and it is working with some NGOs to assist them.
The war that broke in South Kordofan since June last year has gravely disrupted farming activities.
Some NGOs said Nuba Mountains produced only a quarter of the food it needed.
