The Governor in Upper Nile has pledged to carry out a number of developmental projects to improve living conditions in the state.

Simon Kun Puoch made the pledge on his return from China and Israel, Radio Voice of Love reported.

He promised to improve state infrastructures beginning from this year.

Mr Kun said he went to China looking for contractors to build roads and houses in Malakal.

He added that it was very frustrating to use old British buildings as government official premises in Malakal.

Mr Kun said the Chinese companies have better construction skills and will help Upper Nile state to build better roads, schools and health centres.

He disclosed that he wants to make better road connections within the state and with Ethiopia.

Mr Kun told the crowd at Malakal Stadium that people need to work for peace in order to let development flow in the state.

He said his government will ask commissioners to write development projects to deliver appropriate services to the people.

Mr Kun added that his government will look into the supply of clean water in the state.
