EASTERN EQUATORIA CARETAKER GOVERNOR ON SECURITY TOUR

The caretaker governor for Eastern Equatoria State started on Wednesday a ten-day tour of eight counties in the State to assess the security situation in the area to ensure free and fair elections.

Johnson Juma Okot said that the aim of the visits is to ensure security and prepare the ground for peaceful, free and fair elections, without any one intimidating others, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Speaking at a recent rally, Mr. Okot said the government would also be on the alert to avert any violence during the elections campaign period.

Mr. Okot emphasized the his office and the electoral Commission would attend to every complaints raised and resolve them immediately in order to get a positive results of the elections, for freedom of the people after over 50 years of struggle.

Mr. Okot said police, SPLA, fire brigade and the prison forces will be deployed during the polling days to ensure tight security for all the political players and the electorates as well.

Mr. Okot has shaken up Eastern Equatoria state since his arrival to take office early last week with both visible and invisible changes.

Some of the ingredients in the new administration included the tiding of Torit town, imposing of fines on unclean residents and also changing some office bearers in the state.
