The ministry of Education of Western Equatoria State released yesterday the basic primary examination results and said it will support the best students.
Grace Nahata Raphael, from Comboni Primary School in Nzara, was the best female student, and number five in the overall list of best students.She told Radio Anisa via mobile telephone that she plans to continue her studies up to the university but she needs help from the government.
State Director for Primary Education, Wayo Izikia, said the education minister of Western Equatoria pledged to support female students performing well in their studies.
He added that the ministry will pay boarding and school fees to the best 12 female students and tuition fees for the best 11 boys.
Last month, 1,659 primary students sat for the Primary Leaving Certificate Examination in Western Equatoria State.
Over 1,100 were boys and only 528 were girls. Less than half of the female pupils passed.
