Over 25 students from the Centre of Peace and Development Studies at the University of Juba received a three-hour lecture on fiscal federalism.

The lecture was organized by the Forum of Federations, an NGO that deals with strengthening democratic governance among practitioners and experts.

Talking to SCR News, Todd Dusenbery, programme manager of Forum of Federations, explained that fiscal federalism is a branch of public economics that deals with distribution of responsibilities between federal units.

Mr. Dusenbery mentioned that the lecture will enable the students to know the functions of the different levels of government.

Mr. Dusenbery noted that the lecture also will deepen the students’ knowledge on the role of federalism and how it can be used to achieve peace.

The Forum of Federations also helps governments learn and provides them with relevant tools to apply federal principles and practices.

The Forum tailors these tools to make them useful and relevant to specific internal governance challenges.
