The administration of Rumbek National Senior Secondary School complained about their delayed salaries and called on the national Education Ministry to send the money urgently.

Deputy head teacher Peter Gum Pantheer told Good News Radio yesterday that his staff and 34 teachers have not yet received their January salaries.

He said they were suffering from the delay and they wanted the undersecretary at the national education ministry to quickly sort out the issues because the situation is affecting their families.

Mr Gum added that schools in the country have received their January payment but he was wondering why Rumbek has not received its money up to now.

He accused the national ministry of education of using their house allowance arrears for 2010.

Mr Gum said salary delay has become a habit and officials at the national education ministry are not serious to sort out the issues.

He said the teachers will continue with their duties although they have not been paid.

Rumbek Secondary School has over 1,700 students, with 380 students preparing for their final examinations.
