Sudan’s military are carrying out bombing operations and several attacks in Ongolo, Tabaya, Tess, Dar, Buram and Omm-Dorien localities intending to shut down the main route for refugees fleeing violence in Nuba Mountains and for the humanitarian agencies to bring the food into the conflict zone.
SPLM-North leader Younan Albarut said the attacks by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have blocked the road leading out of Southern Kordofan into Yida, in South Sudan. He explained that SAF have seen that humanitarian agencies were bringing food to people of South Kordofan and they are fighting along the road in order to create fear for aid workers not to enter the area.
Mr Albarut said the attacks are increasing along the border to block the road for the humanitarian assistance.
He added that this week there were many clashes and ambushes along the route to Yida refugee camp in Unity State, South Sudan.
The road was closed on Friday due to the clashes and heavy bombings.
