The Government of South Sudan has withdrawn an offer of 2.6 billion US dollars as financial assistance to the Sudan.

The government’s spokesperson Barnaba Benjamin Marial told the press yesterday in Juba that the council of ministers in its weekly sitting decided to withdraw the offer of 2.6 billion US dollars to assist the government of Sudan.

He explained that the offer was made in return to resolve outstanding issues including borders and Abyei es.

Dr Marial said the government Juba called off the offer because the Khartoum was not responding positively to the post independence negotiations.

The delegations of South Sudan and Sudan are still in Addis Ababa negotiating issues related to nationality and the status of Southerners living in the Sudan and Sudanese living in South Sudan after April 9, the end of the Interim arrangements.
