A parliamentary committee who did a comparative study tour on national bureaus of standards in East African countries reported today to the National Legislative Assembly.
MP James Kueth Choul led the two delegations to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda to find out how their national bureaus of standards worked. He said the study will help South Sudan to establish a stronger National Bureau of Standards which will improve commercial activities.
Mr Kueth added that the bureau should operate under the national Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment and it should train its personnel in order to promote quality standards of goods in South Sudan
He explained that the two teams did not have enough time to cover all areas of interest.
Mr Kueth lamented the lack of coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its offices in Uganda and Kenya during the study tour.
The members of parliament adopt the report and pass it to the Speaker.
